Santa Rosa County Recycling Options:

Recycling of Traditional Recycle Materials, ex. plastic, paper, cardboard etc.
1. Recycling drop off sites: for residents that do not have curbside recycling. Recycling can be dropped off for a minimum $5 fee:

  • Central Landfill located at 6337 Da Lisa Road in Milton (Map)
  • Jay Transfer Station located at 3786 Transfer Station Road in Jay (Map)

2. Curbside Recycling: available for residents in service areas for: Waste Pro, Waste Management and ECUA, for no additional quarterly fee.

Recycling of Non-Traditional Materials at Central Landfill
Central Landfill accepts small quantities of household hazardous waste for a free drop off, during regular operating hours (7am - 5pm, Monday - Saturday). Small business may be able to be accommodated, with prior approval, depending on the waste type and quantity. Some items are properly disposed off-site, while others are recycled into reusable products. For more information, please call (850)981-7135.

  • Gas, oil, antifreeze
  • paint, fertilizers, pesticides
  • fluorescent light bulbs and ballast
  • all sizes of rechargeable batteries (ex. drill, automotive, etc.)

Santa Rosa County utilizes a single stream recycling provider, so items do not need to be separated, but can be collected.

  • Plastic Milk Jugs, 2-Liters, bottles and containers

Non-recyclable Materials:

  • No Empty Plastic Bags
  • No Ice Cream Cartons
  • No Waxy / Paper Milk Cartons
  • No Aerosol Cans
  • No Garbage or Yard Waste
  • Oil, gas, paint, antifreeze, fertilizers, pesticides and other household hazardous waste is not recyclable and can be disposed of at no charge at the Household Hazardous Waste Center located at the entrance of the Central Landfill, 6337 Da Lisa Road in Milton, Monday- Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thank you, for disposing of the proper items in the recycle bins. Recycle areas are not disposal areas for furniture or household garbage that is not recyclable material. Please do not dispose of carpet, furniture, toilets, sinks, vinyl flooring, or wicker furniture in the recycle bins. Not only can people be fined for illegal dumping, it can cause the site to be closed or relocated, which can be a great inconvenience to those that are using the site as intended.

The following items can be recycled at various locations around the county. Acceptable materials vary by store locations, so the following is meant as a guide for the closest locations.
  • Oil - Accepted free of charge at many automotive stores.

  • Computers - Can be disassembled and reused in various computer stores.
  • Fishing Line - There are many locations. Please see http://myfwc.com under monofilament recovery.
  • Print Cartridges - Accepted at many office supply stores.
  • Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) bulbs - accepted at Home Depot Stores.
