About Us
Santa Rosa County Animal Services' mission is to build a society in which every animal is treated with compassion; we provide humane shelter and care for the approximately 3,500 lost, displaced and victimized animals who enter our doors every year. Our services protect animals and educate the community through outreach, intervention, and enforcement.
We are dedicated to providing a positive outcome for all of the animals in our care. Since 2019, we have changed our approach to animal sheltering to better serve our community and pets. Through this transformation, our shelter has earned no-kill shelter status and are continuing to promote positive change.
Lifesaving Programs
Your fur-ever friend is waiting for you at Santa Rosa Animal Services! We are proud to help families adopt through our inclusive adoption program. All of the animals adopted through our shelter are spayed/neutered, receive age-appropriate vaccinations, and are microchipped!
Ready to Adopt? Find an adoption application here.
Operation Furever Freedom
Operation Furever Freedom is a program designed to provide veterans, active-duty military, reservists and National Guardsmen with up to two pets, all fees waived. Military dependents are eligible for reduced rates. An active ID or DD 214 card must be provided.
Hometown Heroes Adoption Program
Hometown Heroes is a program designed to provide first responders (police, fire, EMS and 911 dispatchers) with up to two pets, all fees waived. First responders will be required to show an identification card when adopting.
Hundreds of animals are given second chances and cared for by our loving foster parents. We will provide all the supplies needed for the animal to thrive; all you provide is the love & the home.
We practice humane population management of community cats through trap-neuter-return (TNR).
We provide the dogs in our care with daily exercise and interaction through dog play groups.
Become an ambassador of the shelter & contribute to our mission of building a society in which every animal is treated with respect & compassion by helping with a myriad of duties behind-the-scenes.
Doggy Day Out
Members of the community can take shelter dogs for field trips. Outings can last one hour to all weekend and can include a trip to the beach, a hike or even a meal at a pet-friendly restaurant.
There is no place like home, and we want to provide every opportunity to help lost pets return home.
