After thoughtful review of many fine submissions, judges selected winners of Santa Rosa County's first Christmas card coloring contest. The theme for this year's entries was Christmas in my Community. The contest was open for third through fifth graders throughout the county.
The winning artists were recognized publicly at the board committee meeting on Mon., Dec. 9. Each artist was given a $100 cash prize and will receive a milk-and-cookie party for their class, donated by Commission Chairman Sam Parker. Winners were:
Whitney Morrill, Gulf Breeze Elementary – third grade
Adan Williamson, West Florida Baptist Academy – fourth grade
Ryan Laubaugh, LEAD Academy – fifth grade
"I'm excited that with the help of my staff we were able to host this contest," said Commissioner Sam Parker, District One. "I was very impressed by the quality of the entries and I plan to make this an annual event."
All three winning pieces will be hung in the Santa Rosa County Administration Building at 6495 Caroline St. in Milton for public display during the holidays.
