Aug. 29, 6:15 p.m. - Santa Rosa County offices will be open for normal operating hours on Mon., Aug. 30. Officials continue to closely monitor weather conditions. Residents are reminded to follow the National Weather Service and local media outlets for the most recent weather updates.
- The Navarre Beach Pier is closed today and will reopen for normal business hours Mon., Aug. 30, weather permitting.
- NOMI Health COVID-19 testing sites in Santa Rosa County remained closed and depending on weather conditions, will attempt to resume operations on Tues., Aug. 31. Sites are located at the Clyde L. Gracey Community Center in Milton and Gulf Breeze Flea Market in Gulf Breeze. Contact NOMI Health Call Center at 904-295-0562 for any additional information for these testing sites. A full list of vaccination and testing locations in Santa Rosa County, as well as statewide, are available on www.floridahealthcovid19.gov.
- Sand is available at the following locations (must bring sand bags and shovel):
- The corner of Citrus and Leisure streets in Navarre
- Tiger Point Community Center, 1370 Tiger Park Ln. in Midway/Gulf Breeze
- Pace Fire Rescue, 4773 Pace Patriot Blvd. in Pace
- The corner of Carroll and Pine Forest Road in Milton

Santa Rosa County School District
- Due to the lingering widespread impacts from Hurricane Ida, all Santa Rosa County District Schools will be closed Mon., Aug. 30, to include all after-school activities. After discussions with the National Weather Service in Mobile and Santa Rosa County Emergency Management, school officials made the determination based on a variety of factors including the risk for high wind gusts, tornados and significant flooding rains. School and after-school activities are expected to resume Tues., Aug. 31 as usual and a confirmation will be sent by Mon. 5 p.m.
Storm information as provided by the National Weather Service:
- Santa Rosa County is under a tornado watch until 6 a.m., Mon., Aug. 30. The threat for tornadoes spreads further inland and will persist through mid-day Monday.
- Conditions will continue to deteriorate with the worst conditions expected tonight through tomorrow.
- A wind advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Mon., Aug. 30.
- A flash flood watch remains in effect through Tuesday morning, Aug. 31. Five to 10 inches of rain are possible with isolated amounts up to 15 inches.
- Significant impacts will continue over much of our area with a significant threat for heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding and possible river flooding through Monday and potentially Tuesday.
- Dangerous surf and rip currents persists through mid-week.
Traffic Conditions
- Heavy rain may quickly flood low-lying areas including roads and bridges.
- Standing water creates a serious road hazard, even when only a portion of the roadway is flooded. Turn around, don't drown!

Power Outages
- In the event that residents experience a power outage, they are asked to not call 9-1-1 to report power outages. Power outages should be reported to Gulf Power at 1-800-GU-Power (1-800-487-6937) or Escambia River Cooperative, Inc. at 1-877-OUT-EREC (1-877-688-3732).
