October Events at Your Santa Rosa County Library


New Library Hours beginning Oct. 4
Gulf Breeze, Milton, Navarre, & Pace Libraries:
Mon., Wed., Fri., & Sat. from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Tues. & Thurs. from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
 
Jay and Genealogy Libraries:
Mon. – Sat. from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Closed Sat. from 12 – 1 p.m. for lunch
 
Fall Into Fun: Pick-a-Treat – All Libraries
October 1 – 30
Kids are invited to wear a costume, drop by the library, and pick up candy and a fun craft kit. Pick-a-Treat will take place during regular business hours throughout the month of October.
 
Preschool Storytime and Toddler Time
The fall sessions of Preschool Storytime and Toddler Time are going virtual. New videos will be posted each Monday on the library system’s Storytime and Toddler Time pages from Oct. 4 – Nov. 29, an will be available for viewing through Dec. 30.
 
Friends of the Milton Library Book Sale – 5541 Alabama St.
Oct. 1, 1 – 6 p.m. & Oct. 2, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

STEAM Makerspace – Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Are you into drafting, robotics, Arduino, knitting, painting or any kind of hobby and would like a place to meet with others? The library meeting room will be available at this time for you to do so. Sign up is required; see staff at front desk.
 
Book Chat – Pace Library – ZOOM
Oct. 6, 4 p.m.
One of the next best things to reading a good book is chatting about it. Join the conversation via Zoom on the first Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. Registration is required.
 
The Illustriates Graphic Novel Book Club – Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. & ZOOM*
Oct. 6, 4 p.m.
Teens and tweens can join fellow reading enthusiasts on the first Wed. each month in person or via ZOOM to discuss the book of the month. We will read a variety of genres including novels and graphic novels. Space is limited; registration is required.
 
Page Turners - Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr. & ZOOM
Oct. 8, 12 p.m.
The fiction book club meets at 12 p.m. on the second Friday of every other month for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. Participants can meet in person or via ZOOM. Registration is required.
 
Friends of the Navarre Library Book Sale – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Oct. 9, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The Other Book Club – Jay Library –ZOOM
Oct. 11, 4 – 5 p.m.
The Other Book Club (OBC) is a book club for adults who enjoy various genres including mystery, thriller, and historical. The OBC meets the 2nd Monday of every other month via ZOOM. Registration is required.
 
The Inklings– Milton Library - 5541 Alabama St. & ZOOM*
Oct. 12, 4 p.m.
Sixth through 10th graders are invited to read either the novel or graphic novel version of the book of the month and meet to share their ideas about it. The Inklings meets the second Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. at the Milton Library or via ZOOM. Registration is required.
 
Library Advisory Board Meeting – Library Administration – 6275 Dogwood Dr.
Oct. 14, 11 a.m.
The Library Advisory Board will meet at Library Administration in Milton on Thurs., Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. This meeting is open to the public.
 
Reading Fanatics Book Club - Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. & ZOOM
Oct. 16, 1 p.m.
Book club meetings are held on the third Saturday of the month at 1 p.m. via ZOOM or in person. Come tell us what you’d like to read – fiction and non-fiction titles are welcome.
 
AniManga Club – Gulf Breeze Library – ZOOM*
Oct. 21, 4:30 p.m.
Join via ZOOM on the third Thursday of each month to learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts.  The club is open to youth ages 11 – 17, and registration is required.
 
Saturday Matinee Book Club – Genealogy Library – 6275 Dogwood Dr.
Oct. 23, 1:30 p.m.
Interested in books that have been made into movies? Read a book, then gather on a Saturday to watch the movie and discuss both. Snacks will be provided; please bring your own drink in a bottle or cup that won't spill. This club is for adults, and registration is not required.
 
*A signed parental consent form must be turned in to the library for any child under the age of 18 to participate in a virtual club via ZOOM.
