Santa Rosa County 4-H upcoming programs

June 30

Cake decorating 101

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Santa Rosa County Extension, 6263 Dogwood Drive in Milton

This class is open to youth ages eight to 18 years old. The class will begin with the basics of how to decorate a cake. Students will learn how to make their own icing and how to use five different decorating tips. Each participant will decorate their own cupcakes to take home. Lunch is not provided, students will need to plan to bring their own snacks and lunch for the day. Cost is $30 and includes use of all decorating tools, icing, cupcakes and instruction. July 5 - 8

4-H Survival Skills Day Camp

8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Santa Rosa County Extension, 6263 Dogwood Drive in Milton

Open to ages 12 to 18. In this day camp, 4-H members will learn to properly use a knife, build a fire and cook on the fire. Participants will also learn first-aid skills and food preservation. July 18-22

4-H Life Lessons Day Camp

8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Santa Rosa County Extension, 6263 Dogwood Drive in Milton

Open to ages 12 to 18. This camp will include lessons every youth needs to know as an adult, the things taken for granted that someone else has always done. A sample of what participants will learn is:

  • How to set a table
  • How to change a tire
  • How to sew
  • How to check a car's oil
  • How to read a map
  • How to balance a checkbook
  • How to shop smartly
  • How to cook a few easy meals
  • How to adjust recipes
  • How to can to preserve food
  • How to make and follow a budget


Santa Rosa County 4-H will be working with several experts in their fields to assist with the youth learning these life lessons. The cost is $100. Register online at www.eventbrite.com/e/life-lessons-day-camp-tickets-266338795507


Second Saturday of each month from Aug. 2022 to Jan. 2023

4-H Family Freedom Garden Series

9 to 11 a.m. at Santa Rosa County Extension, 6263 Dogwood Drive in Milton
