[ARCHIVED] Learn what to do When Disaster Strikes: Prepare, Act, Survive

Santa Rosa Emergency Management is hosting a "When Disaster Strikes: Prepare, Act, Survive" course May 23-25, from 6-10 p.m. each day, at the Santa Rosa County Emergency Operation Center, 4499 Pine Forest Rd. in Milton. The purpose of this course is to teach community members how to prepare, take action and rescue response during a disaster.

The course is FREE and open to the public, 14 years of age and older. Minors, wishing to participate, will need to complete a medical treatment release form during registration and have a responsible adult stay during the entire class. Register online here.

The one-and-a-half-day course, equaling 12 hours of instruction with hands-on application, focuses on:

  • Developing the mindset to prepare, act and survive in a community disaster.
  • Using survival strategies to rescue and care for yourself, your family and your pets during the immediate aftermath of a disaster.
  • Assisting in the search, light rescue, care and safety of your neighbors.
