[ARCHIVED] Recycling services suspended - ECUA Materials Recovery Facility expected to reopen Mon., June 12

Santa Rosa County continues the temporary suspension of recycling services. Emerald Coast Utility Authority’s (ECUA) Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) remains closed as it hires and trains additional personnel and will not be receiving mixed recyclables for processing. Operations are expected to resume Mon., June 12. Mixed recyclables such as those collected at the curb, cannot be processed safely and effectively until the facility is again operational and fully staffed.

Residents are encouraged to watch for updates from Santa Rosa County as well as their solid waste service provider.

Those who subscribe to Waste Pro’s recycling services are asked not to place recycling items into their blue bin. Place recycling items with regular trash in the gray container. Do not place recycling containers at the curb as they will not be collected during this time. Waste Pro will update customers when available. Waste Pro customers WILL receive a credit on their next billing cycle. Waste Pro customers can call 850-365-1900 for more information.

Residents of the City of Gulf Breeze and City of Milton should continue to separate materials for recycling, as usual, in an effort to encourage sustained behaviors. The City of Gulf Breeze and City of Milton will continue to collect recycling cans with a recycling collection vehicle, as it normally does. However, during this temporary suspension, recyclable materials will be taken to the landfill for disposal instead of the MRF.

Adams Sanitation customers: Adams Sanitation will continue to service recycling carts for their customers and will divert these materials to the landfill pending ECUA’s reopening. Customers who have Adams optional recycling service who wish to suspend recycling service during this continued period of interruption may send an email to info@adamssanitation.com and Adams will pause recycling cart collection until ECUA's facilities are back open. A full update on this issue will be provided to Adams Sanitation customers via email.
