Local option sales tax and two budget/infrastructure workshops discussed in this week's BOCC meetings

Important items were discussed at Board of County Commissioners committee meeting on Mon., Mar. 25 (see video). Administrative agenda item 14 referenced a proposed one-cent infrastructure sales tax referendum to address the need for more diversified funding to support county infrastructure projects. The item passed without objection to the consent agenda and was approved by unanimous vote at the Thurs., Mar. 28 BOCC regular meeting. The referendum will appear on the ballot Aug. 27.

Additionally, the board voted to hold two budget and infrastructure workshops: April 15 from 4-6 p.m. at Woodbine Baptist Church in Pace and April 23 from 6-8 p.m. at Tiger Point Community Center in Gulf Breeze.

"The Santa Rosa County commissioners as well as our staff encourage residents to get involved in their local government," said Commission Chairman Sam Parker, District 1. "These meetings are a great opportunity to learn how projects are prioritized and funding is determined."
